Our Story

Dance 10 School was founded by Sonia Boddy, whose passion for dance began in Lincoln under the guidance of Christine Orange. Sonia went on to train at Elmhurst Ballet School before embarking on a professional career, including performing at the prestigious London Palladium for the Royal Variety Performance. At just 17, she began her international journey dancing at the Lido de Paris, having been coached for her audition by renowned choreographer Gillian Lynne.

After successful dance careers, Sonia returned to Horncastle with her daughter, Jacqui, where she built Dance 10 School from the ground up. The school was named after a song she heard just before her very first audition at the Lido, a moment that stayed with her throughout her life. Sonia went on to teach hundreds of students, sharing her love of dance through the BBodance syllabus and inspiring generations of dancers. Sonia sadly passed away in 2019, but her legacy continues through the school she created.

Now led by her daughter, Jacqui Boddy, Dance 10 remains at the heart of the community. Jacqui’s journey in dance began at just 3 years old, growing up in the studio and assisting in classes from a young age. By her teenage years, she was teaching her own classes and supporting with shows and exam preparation.

Jacqui has since gone on to gain her Level 6 Diploma in Dance Teaching (bbodance) and has taught internationally, including in China and Tenerife, working across a range of styles including Ballet, Tap, Modern, Musical Theatre and Acrodancer. While she has always loved performing and dancing professionally, her true passion lies in teaching and inspiring others.

Today, Jacqui continues to grow Dance 10 School, combining tradition with a modern, inclusive approach. With a commitment to high-quality training, performance opportunities, and a welcoming environment for all, the school continues to nurture dancers of all ages, abilities, and aspirations, from those dancing for fun to those pursuing a future in the industry.
